Splashed across the front page of this morning's Toronto Star the headline reads:
Is Avatar weighed down by white man's burden? - Blogosphere abuzz with allegations epic is racist, relies on old stereotypes
In my opinion, I didn't perceive it that way. While watching this movie, the elements of race and the colour of someone's skin never entered my mind. That kind of thinking is very myopic and antithetical to me. I found that the main character learns to challenge and eventually transcend his own boundaries, his old beliefs and prejudices and embrace something bigger than himself.
