In early November I received an email from my former boss informing me that he was opening a new Apple store in midtown Toronto. He asked me if I would be interested in coming on board. Sometime later, I fired off an email indicating that I would, but only in a part-time capacity. I explained that I was going to be persuing other avenues in the new year and needed the flexibility which a full-time position would hinder. In turn, he replied and said that it would not be an issue.
In the intervening weeks, I helped him and a longtime friend of his, who is well-versed in technology and with whom he has collaborated in the past, create the retail space. This was something which I had never done before. But I must say that it was a great learning experience for me as well as being lots of fun. The experience is definitely something to which I can add to my resume.
Prior to opening we had a specialist visit our store. He installed, configured and instructed us on the new point-of-sale system we would be using. Called
Lightspeed, it's an amazingly powerful and dynamic piece of software specifically created for retail environments.
At 3pm on December 23,
Midtown Digital, an authorised Apple reseller located in the
Yonge and St. Clair area of the city, finally opened its doors. Drawing on a rich and established legacy of experience with Apple products, this retailer continues the tradition of not only selling new Apple products, but also buying and selling used. In addition, this retailer is an authorised Apple service centre which services Apple's line of desktops, laptops and displays in-house.
Above is the front section of the store, which houses all the latest and greatest in Apple offerings.
