I'm really excited. Starting next Thursday night and on every Tuesday and Thursday evening for the next 16 weeks thereafter, I will be attending school at Toronto Image Works, an institution in Toronto's photographic community for many years. Through this intensive course of study I will be introduced to the world of digital publishing. Besides learning the latest version of the Adobe Creative Suite, which includes Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, and Dreamweaver, my studies will focus on:
• Print media basics and offset printing theory
• Creating basic page layouts and graphics using Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
• File output, collection and preparation
• Preparing files, graphics, text and images for use across different print and web projects
• Converting between file formats
• Scanning, imaging, file size and resolution
• Colour models and file compression
• Creating and editing PDFs for web and print
Once I'm done with that course, I'm hoping to pursue the next module which focuses exclusively on the Web.
